Work Experience Programs
Heartland Works offers the following two programs related to work experience.
Work Experience
Work Experience is a planned, structured learning experience that takes place in a workplace for a limited period of time. It may be paid or unpaid; and be in the private for-profit sector, the non-profit sector or the public sector. Work Experience should be designed to promote the development of good work habits and basic work skills. Work Experience is limited to 500 hours and if paid, must meet (at a minimum) federal minimum wage requirements.
Internships
Internships offer work-based training experience in a work setting. There shall be an agreement with an employer to provide structured on-site exposure to work and the requirements for successful job retention. Internships may be paid or unpaid, and in the private or public sector. Internships are limited to 500 hours and if paid, must meet (at a minimum) federal minimum wage requirements.
