Skill Assessment and
Basic Skills/GED Training

Employment and Training Specialists assist customers with comprehensive skill assessment to assure job readiness success and ultimately, employment success.

Basic skills training helps participants overcome deficiencies in reading, writing and math and can help customers pass the GED test if they do not have a high school diploma. GED tutoring is provided through some of our Workforce Centers and Employment and Training Specialists will refer eligible customers to other established tutoring centers if necessary.

Adult Education & Literacy Activities

Educational instruction, particularly in basic skills, to raise an individual’s general competency level in order to succeed in vocational education or skill training programs, or employment. Included here are educational services for customers in need of additional educational assistance to improve their general competence and develop readiness for skill training or work.

Normally conducted in an institutional setting and designed to upgrade basic skills and prepare an individual for further training, future employment or retention in present employment. Includes remedial reading, writing, mathematics, literacy training, study skills, English for non-English speakers, bilingual training and GED preparation (including computer-assisted instruction).
