Help with your Career

Heartland Works, Inc. and the Workforce Centers it maintains were created to help people find work and prepare for successful career positions. The information below explains some of the ways we can work with you. To find out more you can visit the nearest Workforce Center.

The Basics

Heartland Works administers the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) federal program which provides funding for many opportunities job seekers may find helpful and, in many instances, necessary to their employment success. Heartland Works services are at no cost to the job seeker.

If you have barriers to employment or have been laid off from your job because of a business closing, down-sizing or other circumstance; are a displaced homemaker; or seeking assistance with upgrading your skills, Heartland Works may have some answers and help for you.

Heartland Works Employment and Training Specialists work with customers in developing job seeking skills; making sound career decisions; exploring and evaluating education, training, work history, interests, skills and general abilities for the purpose of helping customers gain self-sufficient employment.

The WIA promotes individual responsibility and personal decision-making through the use of vouchers (individual training accounts) for the purchase of training services. The WIA employment system is designed to be more responsive to the skill needs of individuals.

The following are general areas of service available from Heartland Works. To read more about the service, just click on the subject of your interest.
