Vacancy Announcement: Business Consultant for
the Lawrence Workforce Center and the Atchison Office of Heartland Works, Inc.
Summary
The Business Consultant is responsible for determining
workforce needs of employers; works with partners to find solutions
to those needs; helps businesses find, hire and retain apropriate
workers; helps develop new business services; provides or brokers
hiring and training services for free or for fees; and makes presentations
to small and large groups.
Minimum Qualifications
Related 2 or 4 year school, college or university
program degree or certificate; or two years related experience and/or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.;
must have knowledge of Heartland Works, Inc.'s Reporting, Analysis
and Management system; Human Resource systems; various Human Resource
software tools; MS Windows, MS Internet Explorer and MS Word software.
Various publishing software, such as Quark; and must possess a valid
driver's license and have reliable transportation.

Stationed in the Lawrence Workforce Center,
2540 Iowa Street, Suite R, Lawrence, KS
Hours
8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with ability to adjust schedule
per business need.
Reports to
Senior Training & Development Director
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Consultant meets with employers,
listens to their needs and determines if the Workforce System has
solutions to meet those needs or if it can broker such solutions.
The Business Consultant uses the JobFit program to help businesses
recruit, assess, hire and maintain well matched workers. The Business
Consultant provides a variety of Human Resource consulting services
using other available software tools and materiials. The Business
Consultant may provide workshops on various hiring, training, and
retention topics. Business Consultants work with other Heartland
Works, Inc. staff to solicit appropriate workers for specific business
clients. The business Consultant works with the Senior Training & Development Director to plan and implement new services and the activities
surrounding those services, such as staff training and marketing.
The Business Consultant uses marketing and outreach knowledge to
help develop educational, promotional, outreach and marketing materials
to gain greater use of the workforce system's business servies.
