Prairie Band Casino & Resort staffing representatives visited the Topeka Workforce to conduct a Job Fair as there were several openings in our EVS and Food and Beverage Departments.  Cheryl Bozarth took the time to come over and introduce herself to all of us and explain a little bit about the services available with Heartland Works.  After our initial introduction we scheduled a more in-depth meeting.  Cheryl was very organized and patiently explained how Heartland Works could benefit not only our company but members of the community surrounding Prairie Band Casino & Resort which is always something that appeals to our organization.  Since working with Cheryl she has sent many fine candidates our way; we have been fortunate enough to hire two of them.  We sincerely appreciate and enjoy our working relationship with Heartland Works and particularly Cheryl; she never hesitates to promptly come to our assistance and offer resources.  I couldn’t be happier Cheryl took the time to introduce herself that day.

Subject: Job Fair and Hiring Process Update

I want to give you an update on the Career Fair that we hosted and our hiring process.  The Topeka Chamber of Commerce and Workforce Center did a great job of telling the community about the Topeka Bakery.  The interest level at the Topeka Career Fair was outstanding.  We had a total of 489 people who attended the two day event.  Special Note goes to the Topeka Workforce Center for all of their efforts.  As you can tell in their numbers, Cheryl Bozarth and her group did an outstanding job of supporting the career fair and letting people know that we were hosting an event.  We also conducted Career Fairs in other cities.  Below you will see a summary of the results.

Topeka Workforce Center – 489
Lawrence Workforce Center – 36
Manhattan Workforce Center - 6
Wyandotte Workforce Center - 3

Total:  534

Currently, our applicant pool is 400+ for Production Technicians and Maintenance Technicians.  This is great.  We should see quality candidates in this applicant pool.  We are recruiting by using several methods.  I have attached a summary in the applicant tracker.  We will keep you up to date with our  process.  Again, we appreciate all the support that the Topeka Community has shown us.

Thank you for all your efforts,

Janice Wallace
