Our Chief Elected Officials Board and Local Workforce Development Board make up our governing bodies. They have oversight of all our programs, workforce issues and provide direction with a sole purpose of making sure we meet the demands of our local economy and set policies in accordance with the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA). This web site is the official Public Notification of all Local Area II Board of Directors meetings. All meetings are open to the public. Heartland Works, Inc. is a 501(c)3, private non-profit company headquartered in Topeka, Kansas. Among other services, we administer the US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration’s Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) in Local Area II, which consists of 17 counties in Northeast Kansas. We have been serving businesses, job seekers and youth since 1987--Give us a call at our Administrative Office or Workforce Center locations CONTACT INFORMATION AND ADDRESSES. Naturally, the Federal funding from the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act has requirements for different components of our programs. We procure items and services paid for by WIOA funds.
